A Tribute to Scott Flansburg

The human calculator

Here is a video I found on Scott Flansburg's website http://scottflansburg.com/ He is the most inspirational figure in mathematics today. His books and presentations were my biggest motivator to study mathematics beyond what is taught in schools.  I believe that if his methods of understanding numbers were taught in all schools worldwide, math anxiety would nearly cease to exist. The approach of understanding how numbers work, versus pure rote memorization, is the way in which mathematics began. Researching the basic properties of numbers, is where we get all of the advances and applications of mathematics that we use in everyday life.
